Sega and Lingokids to launch five Sonic learning games on December 3

The ad-free, chat-free titles teach spelling, letter recognition, action verbs and creativity, and five more Sonic games are set for spring 2027.

Sega and Lingokids Studios will release five Sonic the Hedgehog learning games on the Lingokids platform on December 3, the companies announced. The titles feature Sonic, Amy, Eggman and Chao characters, and are designed to teach spelling, letter recognition, action verbs and creativity.

The games carry no ads and no chat, and Lingokids says all content is vetted by education experts. The platform is used by more than 20 million kids each month and has nearly 200 million downloads worldwide, according to the company.

A further five Sonic games are scheduled to arrive on Lingokids in spring 2027.

Variety reported the announcement. Lingokids has previously struck partnerships with Disney, Blippi, NASA, BBC Earth and Oxford University Press.

Why Sonic

According to Lingokids' 2026 Kids Interactive Entertainment Report, Sonic the Hedgehog is the second-most popular character among boys ages 3-8. The same study found that about one in six kids who use Lingokids discover new characters on the platform for the first time, and more than half ask to watch movies and shows featuring characters they encounter there.
