Rumor: Game Freak's Project Seed targets 2029 Pokémon MMO

An unconfirmed report says the multi-region Pokémon title would span Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Kitakami, with no official announcement from Game Freak.

A rumored Game Freak project referred to as Project Seed is described as a multi-region Pokémon MMORPG reportedly targeting a 2029 launch, according to screenrant.com. The game has not been officially announced.

The rumor says the title would cover Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Kitakami. The Project Seed details reportedly originated from a massive data breach in 2024.

The claim was circulated by the Twitter/X account Centro LEAKS, which is not an official Pokémon or Game Freak channel. Neither Game Freak nor Nintendo has confirmed the project.

Earlier roadmap claims

In 2025, Game Freak reportedly revealed a project roadmap running through 2030. That roadmap was said to include Gen 10 starting in 2027 with Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.

A further rumored project, following Gen 10, has circulated under the label ProjectRingo/Legends Galar. Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri and Pokémon creator Ken Sugimori have not commented on the Project Seed claims.

Multi-region travel has appeared in the series before: Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, released in 2009, let players explore Johto and then Kanto.
