Rahul Kohli Pitches L.A. Noire Spinoff Set in Multiple Eras

The actor told BAFTA Games he wants a new L.A. Noire that keeps the original facial-capture tech and engine, with settings from Victorian England to 1980s California.

Actor Rahul Kohli has pitched a new L.A. Noire spinoff that would put players in the role of a police officer across different time periods, each investigating different crimes, in an interview with BAFTA Games reported by GameSpot.

Kohli suggested Victorian England as one setting, with a storyline centred on hunting Jack the Ripper. He also proposed 1980s California as another era, with players pursuing the Night Stalker.

He said he wants any new L.A. Noire game to retain the same facial-capture technology and engine used in the original rather than improving them.

The pitch follows earlier comments from Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick, who said in 2026 that the company was looking at future projects across all of its franchises, including L.A. Noire.

L.A. Noire was released in 2011 and never received a sequel; developer Team Bondi later disbanded. A VR spinoff, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, arrived in 2017, and Rockstar said in 2012 that a sequel was a possibility. A rumour has also circulated that a new L.A. Noire game is in development and would involve collecting clues to find the Zodiac Killer.
