Fan game based on Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film shown in Godot footage
Indie developer Chicanogoth posted Instagram footage of a fixed-camera, PS1-style recreation of a scene from the Resident Evil film.
An indie developer working under the handle Chicanogoth has released footage of a fan-made video game based on Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film, according to Bloody Disgusting. The footage was posted on the developer's Instagram page, where the account carries the name Julian Z.
The game is being built in the Godot engine. The clip recreates a scene from the film in which Bryan Hodukavich, played by Austin Abrams, runs through snow away from an infected doberman.
Chicanogoth said the aim is to keep the feel of the 1996 original Resident Evil, using fixed camera angles and the polygonal look of early PlayStation graphics. The developer also posted death and injury animations for Bryan and used the original Resident Evil 2 doberman model for the attack animations.
In the same posts, the developer described the project as the first game they have spent time developing and called it a learning process.
Film context
Cregger's Resident Evil film has grossed more than $150 million at the box office, and Blu-ray and 4K UHD pre-orders for the film are already available.
