Resident Evil: The Other Survivors Mod Hits 1.0 Progression
The Resident Evil 2 total conversion can now be played from start to finish of its planned main progression, though cutscenes remain unfinished.
The Resident Evil 2 total conversion mod Resident Evil: The Other Survivors has reached version 1.0 in terms of its core progression, creator ALSOP announced. That milestone means the project can now be played from the beginning to the end of its planned main progression, according to a developer update reported by gamerant.com.
Work on the mod is not finished. Cutscenes and various other pieces still need to be implemented before the project is complete.
Its puzzles, by contrast, are done. The latest developer update discusses whether to add one more puzzle on top of those already finished.
On ModDB, Resident Evil: The Other Survivors is listed as a single-player total conversion for the original Resident Evil 2, with its release date marked as TBD.
What the mod covers
The Other Survivors follows officer Frank Williams, described as the last surviving member of the Raccoon SWAT team, alongside former S.T.A.R.S. Delta Team Captain Keith Deadman. Keith's portion of the game moves between the main events in September 1998 and flashbacks to the Spencer Mansion in July 1998.
Resident Evil 2 has become a foundation for fan projects because its classic survival horror design leaves room for new scenarios without abandoning the structure of the original game.
