Rockstar: GTA 6 Won't Trade Scale for Detail

Rockstar co-studio head Aaron Garbut says GTA 6 dials up detail, scope, breadth, scale, interaction and density without compromising any of them.

Rockstar Games co-studio head Aaron Garbut said Grand Theft Auto VI does not compromise scale for detail, telling Game Informer that everything in the game is dialed up: detail, scope, breadth, scale, interaction and density.

Garbut's comments frame the studio's approach to its largest open world yet, suggesting the team is not trading one strength for another as it builds out the game.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game takes place in the Florida stand-in Leonida, though it does not feature Walt Disney World.

Rockstar has previously detailed other features for the title. In October 2025, the studio revealed that GTA 6 will include more than 170 animal species, among them cane toads and monkeys. Rockstar also revealed a new dynamic weather system for the game.

According to reports, GTA 6 has sold close to 6 million copies and generated more than $570 million in pre-sales.
