Sapkowski Writing New Geralt Witcher Novel, Eyes 2027 Draft

Andrzej Sapkowski has confirmed he is actively writing another Witcher novel centered on Geralt of Rivia, with the manuscript tentatively expected to be completed by the end of 2027, according to Screen Rant.
The author also dismissed the idea of shifting the next novel to another major character such as Yennefer, keeping the series' original protagonist at the center of the new book.
The novel arrives at a moment when the franchise's biggest adaptation is heading in the opposite direction. CD Projekt Red has said The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release and will begin a new trilogy with Ciri as the central playable character, replacing Geralt as the flagship protagonist.
Two Witcher paths diverge
That shift has proven relatively divisive among longtime fans, given how closely Geralt has been tied to the franchise across its various adaptations, dating back to Sapkowski's original novels.
CD Projekt Red describes The Witcher 4 as the beginning of a new saga, effectively moving its flagship series into a post-Geralt era. Before that, a Remastered edition of The Witcher 3 was recently released, and the upcoming Songs of the Past DLC will effectively serve as Geralt's swan song.
Sapkowski's most recent book, Crossroads of Ravens, followed an 18-year-old Geralt shortly after leaving Kaer Morhen. It first reached Polish readers in November 2024, then received its English-language edition on September 30, 2025, as part of a coordinated international launch spanning more than 20 languages. Asked whether Geralt's early years offered enough material for additional prequels, Sapkowski responded that the "sky is the limit."
