Sapkowski confirms new Witcher book, targets end of 2027

The author said the novel will star Geralt again and he expects to finish writing it by the end of 2027, with Polish readers possibly waiting until late 2027 or early 2028.

Andrzej Sapkowski confirmed at a convention in Poland that he is working on the next Witcher book, and said he expects to finish writing it by the end of 2027. The announcement was reported by the Witcher news site Redanian Intelligence.

According to Redanian Intelligence, the new novel will again star Geralt. Sapkowski said he does not intend to write Witcher books about other characters such as Yennefer.

Redanian Intelligence noted that Polish readers could get the book in late 2027 or early 2028 if it is finished on time. Based on the release schedule of The Witcher: Crossroads of Ravens, international readers could get the book about a year later.

In 2025, Crossroads of Ravens was released as a prequel about young Geralt's first big adventure as a Witcher. Sapkowski told IGN that there is room to explore more of Geralt's formative years in further prequels, and said he is considering writing more short stories. He also said creating a good short story is much more difficult than writing a novel.

The Witcher series began with a short story, and Sapkowski published two collections before the first novel, Blood of Elves.
