SBI Neo Media launches CONTENT INNOVATION IP platform with Yasushi Akimoto
Lyricist Yasushi Akimoto will supervise the new platform, which works alongside an SBI Group fund with about 100 billion yen in committed investment.
SBI Neo Media Holdings said on November 2, 2026 that it has launched CONTENT INNOVATION, a platform to create and nurture new Japanese intellectual property. Lyricist Yasushi Akimoto will serve as supervising producer of the project.
The platform is organized around three pillars: discovery, development and commercialization. Akimoto will select specialist producers across fields including music, video, anime and games.
The project will coordinate with the SBI Neo Content Investment Limited Partnership, an SBI Group fund with total committed investment of about 100 billion yen.
The two existing SBI funds have so far listed around 400 cases, met with about 150 individuals and businesses, and decided more than 10 investments. Separately, GENDA, which operates amusement facilities such as GiGO, has decided to invest 300 million yen as a limited partner in the SBI Neo Content Fund.
The lineup of genre-specific producers, including those for games, along with details of auditions and pitch competitions, will be announced later.
Background
In May 2025, the SBI Group established SBI Neo Media Holdings to combine finance, IT and media. Through the SBI Neo Content Fund and a fund co-established with Cool Japan Fund, SBI has been investing in entertainment and content. Akimoto has produced AKB48 groups, Sakamichi groups and the male idol group Cloud ten, and has written lyrics for more than 5,000 songs.
