Scramble Knights Online launches on Xbox Game Pass
Funktronic Labs' co-op action RPG arrives on Game Pass at launch after a switch away from battle royale.
Funktronic Labs released Scramble Knights Online on October 26, 2026, with the action RPG available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, according to news.xbox.com. The game is described as an MMO-Lite and is set in the kingdom of Terracott, where players take on the role of a knight-in-training.
The release is the result of a significant change in direction. Scramble Knights Online was first developed as a battle royale PvP title called Scramble Knights Royale.
Co-founder Eddie Lee and the team weighed the original reveal, which drew a solid response from fans on social media, against the first public playtest. There, players responded well to the world and exploration but were frustrated with the battle royale elements, with lobbies emptying and a large streamer quitting after a few minutes.
After three years of work, the studio dropped the battle royale mode and began prototyping alternatives, including Capture the Flag and Team Death Match. The team settled on an MMO-Lite prototype built around posting missions, signing up players and departing together.
In less than six months, the world and combat were reworked into an MMO and the project was renamed Scramble Knights Online.
