Sega Sammy first-half game sales fall 23.5% to 20.5 billion yen

Sega Sammy Holdings reported first-half sales of 20.5 billion yen for its full game business, down 23.5% year on year, according to gamebiz.jp. The decline came mainly from new releases: new title sales were 300 million yen in the six months to September, against 8.7 billion yen a year earlier.

Repeat sales offset part of the drop, rising to 20.2 billion yen from 18.0 billion yen. Total unit sales for the half reached 10.6 million, up from 9.39 million a year earlier. In the same period a year earlier, full game sales were 26.8 billion yen.

Second-half slate carries the plan

Sega Sammy's full-year plan for the full game business is 95.3 billion yen, made up of 55.6 billion yen from new titles and 39.7 billion yen from repeat sales. That leaves 74.8 billion yen to be booked in the second half.

Three releases are lined up for that period: Football Manager 27 on November 10, 2026, Stranger Than Heaven on January 15, 2027 and Persona 4 Revival on February 18, 2027. At Sega, Football Manager sits with Sports Interactive, Stranger Than Heaven comes from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, and Atlus is behind Persona 4 Revival.

Stranger Than Heaven passed 1 million wishlist registrations on September 3, with about half of those registrants being users who have not bought an existing Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio title. Persona 4 Revival has passed 2 million wishlist registrations and, 18 weeks before release, is tracking above internal benchmark titles.
