sfvsoft announces castle town construction strategy game Jyoka for PC

Jyoka is planned for Steam on November 16, priced at 3,850 yen, and is set in 16th-century Sengoku-era Japan.

Developer sfvsoft has officially announced Jyoka, a castle town construction strategy game for PC via Steam. The game is planned for release on November 16, according to automaton-media.com.

Set in 16th-century Sengoku-era Japan, players take on the role of a local lord known as a kokushu and aim to unify the country. The game will support Japanese in-game text. The standard price is 3,850 yen including tax, with a sale price planned for one month after launch.

Gameplay is divided into three parts: castle town building, defense battles and siege battles. The building portion offers over 190 types of facilities, including agricultural, tourism, commercial and religious buildings, with rice as the most important resource. Players can also change laws, such as six tax rates and labor conscription rates.

A retainer system allows players to recruit applicants and promote foot soldiers to ashigaru taisho, granting rice fields as stipends. Defense uses fences, moats, stone walls, turrets and keeps, alongside six troop weapon types: sword, spear, long-handled spear, bow, cavalry and matchlock gun.

Siege battles feature 73 enemy castles modeled on real castles, starting with Kiyosu Castle. Difficulty settings adjust enemy aggressiveness, allowing players to focus solely on castle town building if they choose.

Development background

Development was conceived about five years ago and has been underway for about three years. Since around 2020, the developer's X account has shown progress on the game, including rice fields, stone walls, castle gates and gun production facilities. sfvsoft is an individual developer run by Yuto.
