SOOP to Hold SLL League of Legends Event in December
Kiwoom DRX and DN Supers are confirmed for the SOOP LoL League, with talks ongoing on wider LCK team participation and overseas collaboration.
SOOP announced it is preparing to hold the SLL (SOOP LoL League) in December, a League of Legends tournament the company produces and operates directly. In the event, streamers and former and current pro players form teams to compete.
Two teams have been confirmed for this year's SLL: Kiwoom DRX (KRX) and DN Supers (DNS). SOOP said it is discussing expanding participation by LCK teams and forms of collaboration involving overseas teams or overseas streamers.
The company expects its esports content production to reach 659 times this year. SOOP holds an LCK broadcast partnership with Riot Games running from this year through 2030, and has streaming partnerships with 7 of the 10 LCK teams, plus about 13 pro teams including other titles.
From ALL to SLL
The tournament began in 2021 as 'ALL (AfreecaTV LoL League)' and was rebranded as SLL in 2024. Last year, only some pro teams took part.
SOOP's esports business covers official league production and marketing, original content production, acquiring broadcast rights for external tournaments, and global esports. Its original leagues include ASL and GSL for StarCraft, SLL and 'Mangmangjeon'. This year it also took part in production, operation and marketing of the Valorant VCT Pacific Roadshow, and in broadcast technology, production and directing of the PUBG Nations Cup, and exclusively provided Korean-language broadcasts of the Overwatch Champions Series Korea (OWCS).
