Jason Schreier of Bloomberg said that Respawn Entertainment is far into development on Star Wars Jedi 3 and that the game's unveiling may come soon, according to wccftech.com. The journalist's remarks were made while he discussed Electronic Arts' decision to shut down BioWare and cancel its Mass Effect game.
According to the report, Jedi 3 did not come up in that cancellation discussion because the project is nearly done. No release window, platforms or official title beyond the working Star Wars Jedi 3 have been announced by Respawn Entertainment or Electronic Arts.
Schreier's comments follow earlier claims about the project's timing. In June, Insider Gaming reporter Tom Henderson said he had heard the game would feature an older Cal Kestis, the protagonist of the Jedi series, implying a time jump. Star Wars insider FivesWalker previously said the game could be announced this year, possibly at The Game Awards on December 10, and released sometime next year.
The series' previous entry, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, launched in 2023. In September 2024, it came to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and EA Entertainment president Laura Miele said at the time that Respawn was working on the final chapter of the story.
Survivor's PC launch was marred by shader compilation and traversal stuttering that persisted past its ninth patch, more than 500 days after release. No such technical details have been given for the unannounced third game.
