Stardeus early access update adds quests, alliances and evil AI option

Developer Kodo Linija says the early access patch was a year in the making and lists more than 1,500 changes in its Steam notes.

Stardeus has received a large early access update that developer Kodo Linija described as a year in the making, according to Rock Paper Shotgun. The patch adds a quest system, a new opening tutorial chain and the ability for players to form alliances with other starfaring factions.

The update also introduces a new interface, a new ship aesthetic and a trust system that governs the odds of a mutiny. Players can now choose to become an evil AI and mind-control their crew with beta waves, and failed surgery can leave a colonist with a lifelong injury.

Several existing systems were reworked. The colonist skill system has been overhauled, ground combat now centres on cover, suppression, stuns and fleeing, and space battles revolve around managing Flux.

The Steam update notes list more than 1,500 changes in total.
