Valve ships SteamOS 0.5.7 beta for Steam Frame with WebXR support

The opt-in beta also updates SteamVR to 2.19.1, adds microphone noise-control toggles and fixes controller battery reporting at 0%.

Valve released SteamOS 0.5.7 Beta for Steam Frame on 4 November 2026, according to GamingOnLinux. The build is opt-in and is selected through Settings > System > Steam Client Update Channel.

The beta enables WebXR support in Chromium 157 and later, and updates SteamVR to version 2.19.1. Valve has removed Advanced Supersampling on Steam Frame in this release, while foveated sharpening now works independently of Eye Tracking and defaults to centered.

Several hardware behaviours change as well. The display dims for 30 seconds before sleep, vibration filtering for pose prediction was improved for units affected by an issue, and Frame Controllers now correctly show battery at 0%.

Default bindings were added for Chromalab, Batman Arkham and Doom VFR. Valve also fixed an audio bug that occurred with USB or Bluetooth speakers when an app accessed the microphone.

New controls let users selectively disable echo cancellation and noise suppression for the microphone; the options require the current Steam Client Beta.

How to install

Steam Frame owners who want the build must switch their update channel manually, as the release is not delivered by default.
