Valve ships SteamOS 3.9.3 Beta with Steam Frame adapter fixes

The beta also fixes suspend-resume performance in STAR WARS: Galactic Racer on Steam Machine and GPU errors in The Crew Motorfest.

Valve released SteamOS 3.9.3 Beta on October 17, 2026, with improved support for the Steam Frame wireless adapter, according to gamingonlinux.com. The release is a beta build, so it reaches users ahead of a stable rollout.

The update addresses several game and hardware issues. It fixes performance problems in STAR WARS: Galactic Racer when resuming from suspend on Steam Machine, and an issue that could lead to GPU errors in The Crew Motorfest.

Display and audio handling also get attention: the beta corrects audio issues when hotplugging certain monitors in multi-monitor setups. Valve additionally included security and stability updates, and reintroduced support for Android binder IPC for developers.

The release follows earlier Steam Frame work, including a SteamOS 0.5.6 Beta for the hardware released in recent days. SteamOS 3.9, the branch this beta builds on, moved the Arch Linux base and Desktop Mode from Plasma 6.4.3 to Plasma 6.7.3, rebased the Linux kernel and added preliminary hibernation support.

That earlier release also fixed a crash when launching Forza Horizon 6 on Legion Go 2, added preliminary Legion Go 2 brightness control, and resolved ELDEN RING and DARK SOULS III failing to run on recent Panther Lake Intel CPUs.
