Talaka Demo Launches for Steam Next Fest

Potato Kid's handpainted 2D action-roguelike draws on Candomblé Orishas and real Brazilian regions, with no release date yet.

A demo for Talaka, the 2D action-roguelike from developer Potato Kid, is available now during Steam Next Fest, according to Rock Paper Shotgun. The game has no formal release date.

Talaka features handpainted art in which defeated enemies leave splotches of colour behind. Its pantheon is based on Orishas from the Afro-Brazilian religion Candomblé, including Oshossi, the Orisha of hunting and the wilderness.

The demo's backdrops are based on real regions of Brazil, with the exception of the hub area set in the Orisha realm. Combat rewards chaining kills without stopping to heal, granting bonus damage for sustained aggression.

Rock Paper Shotgun's writer had previously played an early demo of Talaka at Gamescom Latam 2026 in São Paulo.
