Tenebris Somnia Launches October 16 With Live-Action Cutscenes

New Blood Interactive's retro survival horror game from Andres Borghi and Saibot Studios arrives on October 16, 2026.

Tenebris Somnia, the retro survival horror game with live-action cutscenes, launches on October 16, 2026, New Blood Interactive announced. The game is developed by Andres Borghi and Saibot Studios and published by New Blood Interactive.

Players control Julia, a young woman who has nightmares about her ex-boyfriend being torn apart by monsters and goes to his apartment to check on him. Argentine actress Clara Kovacic plays the protagonist in the live-action cutscenes, and practical monster effects were supervised by award-winning effects artist Marcos Berta.

Cutscenes in the game are linked to gameplay rather than serving only as end-of-level rewards. No generative AI was used anywhere in the game's production, and localization was human-translated into English, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese.

From a FAITH stream to a full release

Borghi was streaming FAITH: The Unholy Trinity when he got the idea to make his own pixel horror game with live-action cutscenes, according to news.xbox.com. After he and Tobias Rusjan made a demo, they pitched the full game to New Blood Interactive, which signed a publishing deal. Shortly after, the New Blood team traveled to Buenos Aires to watch the film crew at work.

The game was in production for nearly 4 years. A full making-of documentary is planned for release after the game launches.
