The King's Surveyor Passes 2,500 Steam Wishlists After Three Days

Analog Dream Dev says the first-person action game has no release date and currently lists English as its only supported language on Steam.

Analog Dream Dev reported on October 31 that The King's Surveyor passed 2,500 Steam wishlists three days after its store page went live, according to news.denfaminicogamer.jp. The page itself was published on October 28, and English is currently its only listed supported language.

The game is a first-person action title with retro-style graphics, developed by a single person who also wrote its engine from scratch over the course of a year. According to the developer, the engine includes a CRT-style display simulation in which bright moving objects leave afterimages, recreating how old televisions rendered images on modern monitors.

Players control Sebastian, a royal surveyor who is looking for a way home while surveying an ancient valley. There is no experience system or skill tree: the protagonist improves by observing, and the places he explores are recorded and filled into a map.

The left hand handles actions such as swinging a sword or staff, striking stones and climbing, while the right hand holds a torch. Enemies in the valley dislike light and wait in unlit areas.

No release date has been announced. The developer plans to expand the valley, add surveyor tools and release a demo when it is ready.
