TOHO Game Revenue From Anime Titles Jumps 57.9% in Q2

TOHO's game-related revenue from animation titles reached 1.283 billion yen in the March–August 2026 interim period, driven mainly by co-developed titles.

TOHO reported on October 15, 2026 that game-related revenue from its animation titles rose 57.9% year-on-year to 1.283 billion yen in the second quarter interim period of the fiscal year ending February 2027, covering March 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026.

The revenue came mainly from splits on co-developed titles, with Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade a notable contributor, according to gamebusiness.jp.

TOHO Games currently operates Godzilla Battle Line, Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade and Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME. The company plans to release the smartphone game Haikyu!! ALL Challengers and to launch The Apothecary Diaries: The False Crown Prince, co-planned and co-produced with Koei Tecmo Games, in early 2027.

Film Business Declines as IP Segment Grows

In the same interim period, TOHO's IP and animation segment's operating revenue rose 15.6% year-on-year to 43.13 billion yen. The film business, by contrast, saw operating revenue fall 12.1% year-on-year to 91.177 billion yen, even as Detective Conan: The Highway Fallen Angel and Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island performed well. In the same period a year earlier, the film business had benefited from major hits such as Demon Slayer and Kokuhou.

TOHO left its full-year forecast unchanged at 345 billion yen in operating revenue, 62 billion yen in operating profit and 67 billion yen in ordinary profit, while raising its full-year net profit forecast from 41 billion yen to 48 billion yen. The company said the upward revision was due to the partial sale of investment securities in the third quarter. TOHO is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market and the Fukuoka Stock Exchange.
