Total War: Warhammer 3 patch 9.0.3 rebalances Nagash campaign

Creative Assembly's 9.0.3 update cuts Nagash early upkeep by 40% and revises Mortarch objectives, with battle income and Verminlord changes.

Creative Assembly has released patch 9.0.3 for Total War: Warhammer 3, an update focused on battle balance and progression in the Nagash campaign, according to PCGamesN.

The patch adds a 40% upkeep reduction node for Nagash in the early Black Pyramid progression. Additional battle income now scales from 20% more on easy difficulty down to 5% more on hard, with no benefit at higher tiers.

Mortarch subjugation objectives have been replaced with thematic objectives that can be completed from every location. Most Mortarchs now submit to Nagash once he has clearly surpassed them in power.

The Lore of Nehekhara also sees adjustments, including changes to Neru's Incantation, Ptra's, Sakhemet's, Usirian's and Usekhp's. Elsewhere, the maximum missile resistance bonus for Verminlords and Skreech Verminking drops from +60% to +30%, Stormfiends get a bigger hitbox, and the Warp-Doom Magma Cannon costs 150 more gold.

Players should note that the Nagash campaign changes require a fresh-start campaign to activate.

Ongoing work on the campaign

Creative Assembly had previously acknowledged the campaign struggles to balance challenge and enjoyment. In October 2025, the Lords of the End Times DLC introduced a fresh faction to the game and left some Undead Legions players feeling underwhelmed; the studio said at the time it was already looking into further fixes for the next release.
