Ubisoft Milan reportedly pitched a Zelda spin-off starring Ganondorf, according to Eurogamer. The project, developed in 2022 after Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope launched, was internally called Project Goliath.
Nintendo reportedly asked the team to replace their original protagonist with Ganondorf. The prototype was ultimately rejected by Nintendo in November 2023.
Following the rejection, Davide Soliani left Ubisoft and founded the studio Day 4 Night. Ubisoft Milan has since been collaborating with Ubisoft Montpellier on Rayman Legends Untold.
