Valve fixes Star Wars Zero Company crashes on Steam Machine
Valve disabled NVIDIA NVAPI in the game's default launch options, and the Proton fix is applied automatically after a system restart.
Valve has deployed a Proton fix that stops Star Wars Zero Company from crashing on Steam Machine, according to gamingonlinux.com. The fix is applied automatically once the system is restarted.
The studio adjusted the game's default launch options to disable NVIDIA NVAPI, which appeared to be causing the problem. Pierre-Loup Griffais, a Valve developer, announced the fix.
The crashes followed a major update to Star Wars Zero Company, which also affected Steam Machine and possibly other SteamOS and Linux systems.
Campaign Modifiers added in the update
The same update added Campaign Modifiers, which players can enable when starting a new campaign through the Difficulty Settings menu. The options cover injury and death rules, risk of death, health progression, bond progression and Advantage rules.
Under the default death rule, called Three Strikes, an Operator defeated in tactical combat dies if they have two Injuries. Any selected Campaign Modifiers take effect after the tutorial is completed.
