Wendy's launches free retro RPG WendyQuest with food promo codes

WendyQuest is available on iOS, Android and Steam, and in-game codes can be redeemed for menu items at Wendy's locations in the US.

Wendy's announced and released WendyQuest, a free retro-style role-playing game, on November 4, according to CNET. The game is available on iOS and Android, and desktop players can get it through Steam.

In WendyQuest, the chain's mascot appears as a warrior battling evil french fry robots. Players can earn promo codes inside the game that are redeemable for menu items such as fries and burgers at Wendy's locations.

The promotion is limited to people 18 and older living in the US, and players must sign up for a Wendy's account to redeem a code. Codes expire seven days after they are obtained and are available first come, first served.

Wendy's said WendyQuest is the brand's first fully owned video game.

Gaming history

The chain has been involved in gaming culture for years, including on Twitch, Fortnite and Feast of Legends, according to a company spokesperson. Food and game promotions have a long history: Swordquest, released in the early 1980s for the Atari 2600, held a contest where players tried to win treasure made of gold and jewels, and in 2015 a Just Cause 3 promotion offered players the chance to win a private island, with Square Enix noting the winner would have to pay related taxes.
