Wintory Posts 22 Minutes of Unused Mass Effect: Universe Music
The composer says he recorded the concepts with a Los Angeles orchestra while in talks to score the game, which EA cancelled.
Composer Austin Wintory has released 22 minutes of unused musical concepts he created for Mass Effect: Universe, posting the material to YouTube. According to Kotaku, Wintory had been in talks to compose the soundtrack for the game.
Wintory said he recorded the concepts with a Los Angeles orchestra. He also said he did not know what the game's story was going to be at the time.
In the video, the composer said he wanted to pay tribute to Jack Wall and Sam Hulick, who scored the original Mass Effect trilogy.
The release follows EA's announcement less than a week earlier that it was shutting down BioWare and cancelling further work on Mass Effect: Universe. Wintory created the concepts last year, but a deal to score the game was never finalized.
