The World of Dokkaebi Tops Google Play Revenue Chart 5 Days After Launch
The World of Dokkaebi reached No. 1 on Google Play's game revenue ranking on October 13, pushing Com2uS's Zeus: God of Pride to second.
The World of Dokkaebi topped Google Play's game revenue ranking on October 13, five days after its launch, according to inven.co.kr. The game rose one place from second the previous day.
Its move to first pushed Com2uS's Zeus: God of Pride to second and NCSoft's Lineage M to third.
The World of Dokkaebi is developed by SuperCat, the studio behind BaramNara: Yeon, and published by Kakao Games. Kakao Games holds service rights for the game worldwide excluding China.
The game is based on author Yeon Woo-sol's Naver web novel and webtoon 'Myeolgwisudajeon' and is set about 300 years before the original work. It features 2.5D graphics that place 2D dot characters on 3D backgrounds and a deck-building system where players combine skills without fixed classes.
Earlier momentum for the title came before launch. On October 6 it topped the popularity ranking on the Apple App Store after starting pre-downloads, and on its official launch day, October 8, it took first place on Google Play's popularity ranking.
In September, Kakao Games held a live demonstration and, after taking pre-questions and a real-time Q&A, said it would not attach growth-related stats to clothing and mounts, and extended the membership period from 28 days to 30 days. The company plans to release Dungeon Arise within the year, followed by Odin Q: Valkyrie's Call and God Save Birmingham in early next year, aiming for a return to profit in the first quarter of next year.
