Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever Updates Due Roughly Every Four Months

Lead designer Kris Zierhut says the team settled on a slower cadence after Season of Discovery's schedule felt too fast.

World of Warcraft: Forever will receive new content updates roughly once every four months, or about 17 weeks, developer Blizzard has confirmed. Principal game designer Kris Zierhut set out the plan in an interview with IGN, as reported by ScreenRant.

Zierhut said the team experimented to find the right content cadence and concluded that the faster Season of Discovery schedule — closer to eight or 10 weeks — felt far too fast. The four-month gap works out to roughly three updates a year.

He added that smaller, more localized stories are what allow the team to release updates at this rate, rather than telling one huge story that takes six months to unfold.

November 4 launch previously announced

World of Warcraft: Forever was announced at BlizzCon 2026, and the game is set to debut on November 4, as previously announced. The beta for the game was described as exceptional.
