Blizzard details World of Warcraft Forever PvP plans

Developers describe PvE, PvP and RP rule sets for the realmless server and say rule-set choices will be locked at full release.

Blizzard developers have outlined how PvE, PvP and RP rule sets will work in World of Warcraft Forever and discussed their hopes for open-world PvP, in a discussion that also featured Countdown to Classic podcast host Josh Corbett and streamers Savix and TipsOutBaby.

According to PCGamesN, the game uses a realmless system in which all players within the PvE, PvP and RP rule sets share one large server, though players will not all see each other at once. The combined RP-PvP bracket is not included.

Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield said players will not be able to change their chosen rule set after full release. He said anyone who picks the PvP realm and later dislikes it will likely have to re-roll on the PvE realm.

Lead Game Designer Tim Jones said the team wants organic battles in the outdoor world and organic competition over limited resources and new recipes once players can level to 60. He said objectives could include encouraging players to attack each other's capital cities such as Stormwind and Orgrimmar, while the team is being careful not to make PvP feel too competitive.

In October 2025 context cited during the discussion, Greenfield pointed to Season of Discovery's Crusader Strike realm, where the RP tag was removed about three months after launch. The World of Warcraft Forever beta had a level cap of 30.
