Xbox CEO Says Division Returned to Growth, Outlines Project Helix for Gen 10

Asha Sharma told a company town hall that Xbox has returned to growth after an all-time low and pointed to Minecraft Dungeons 2, Gears of War: E-Day and World of Warcraft: Forever.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told staff at a company town hall that the gaming division has returned to growth after an all-time low, describing the level as more than 2 to 3 times previous levels. Sharma said the division had a good fiscal quarter that wrapped up last week, according to Kotaku.

Sharma pointed to strong starts for Minecraft Dungeons 2, Gears of War: E-Day and World of Warcraft: Forever. She also claimed a 30-percent boost in brand sentiment compared with a year ago.

Gen 10 plans

Sharma said Xbox is moving to a family of devices for Gen 10, called Project Helix, with a great console first and options for players on the go. She said Xbox will share more about the Gen 10 plans as they develop.

Chief content officer Matt Booty said last month that Xbox is only 75 percent of the way through its painful reset. The company is still planning to lay off hundreds of more staff in the months ahead.

Separately, The Witcher 3 was brought to Battle.net as a curated cross-collaboration on Blizzard's PC launcher. Among recent hardware, the Xbox Ally X is made by Asus.
