Yokosuka e-Sports Scholarship Opens Applications for Fourth Class

The City of Yokosuka is accepting entries until October 25, 2026 for its e-sports scholarship supporting high school players, with up to five students to be selected.

The City of Yokosuka began accepting applications for the fourth class of its 'Yokosuka e-Sports Scholarship' on October 9, with the application window remaining open until October 25, 2026. The programme supports high school students who aim to become e-sports players, according to gamebusiness.jp.

Applicants must be first- or second-year high school students who live in Yokosuka or are enrolled at a high school in the city. Up to five students will be selected. Those chosen receive coaching in the game titles they wish to pursue and support for setting up their home PC environment.

Eligible game titles are those for which the applicant meets the age rating and for which world-championship-level tournaments are held. Titles used in the city-run 'YOKOSUKA e-Sports CUP', 'stage0' and the 'NASEF JAPAN All-Japan High School e-Sports Championship' are given preference.

Applications require a student ID photo, a photo showing the applicant's home environment, and videos of two matches they played. The first screening in late October is based on self-promotion on the application form and the match videos, while the second screening is an interview on October 30 at a venue in the Yokosuka Chuo and Shioiri area.

The fourth class of students will be decided in November 2026, after which coaching will begin.

Programme background

The first through third classes of the programme took part in regular coaching by professional e-sports players, e-sports event management experience, tournament appearances and guest appearances at experience events. The City of Yokosuka has been promoting next-generation career development through public-private cooperation under the 'Yokosuka e-Sports Partners' framework.
