Nintendo Reveals Fairy Scribble Mechanic in Ocarina of Time Remake

Navi can interact with small scribble drawings of fairies found around the world, relaying tips to the player.

Nintendo has revealed a new mechanic in its remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in which fairy messages appear around the world as small scribble drawings of fairies, according to gamesradar.com.

When the player has Navi interact with these fairy drawings, she relays tips to the player. One example Nintendo showed has her noting that things can fall out of trees when shaken.

The preview was highlighted by Twitter user Genki_JPN, and GamesRadar+ features editor Andrew Brown covered the reveal.

The original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time released in 1998, and Navi's constant interjections have been a major complaint since then. Her refrain "Hey! Listen" is described as an iconic part of Zelda history.

The remake will also include full voice-acted cutscenes for everyone except Link, a new boss rematch mode, and a jump button and dash added to Link's movement kit. Fi from Skyward Sword is mentioned as being more overbearing than Navi.
