Abnormal Studios Unveils Busan Market Slate Led by Cambodian 'Wedding Dress' Remake

Abnormal Studios is presenting its slate at the Asian Contents & Film Market in Busan, led by a Cambodian remake of the 2010 South Korean drama Wedding Dress, according to Variety. The Busan International Film Festival runs the market.

The Cambodian adaptation is the first feature from director Huang Han. The remake is being sold ahead of its local release.

Also on the slate is The Hungry One, an upcoming feature from Venezuelan horror director Alejandro Hidalgo, which is in pre-production. Hidalgo previously directed No Voltees (2024) and The Exorcism of God (2021), which was distributed in more than 150 countries, according to background provided by Abnormal Studios. His 2013 breakout The House at the End of Time is Venezuela's top-grossing horror film.

Abnormal Studios is handling Ali & Ben's Spicy Meats, a cannibal black comedy-horror from Feisal and Iskander Azizuddin. The Malaysian sci-fi fantasy Mimpi Kita: Castle in the Air took part in the It Project section of the NAFF Project Market at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival this year.

Abnormal Studios, a subsidiary of Westec Media Limited, has been acquiring and releasing films since 2020 and has handled more than 400 titles. It now puts out around 100 films a year across Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Mongolia, and Nepal.
