Alana Mayo Joins Julie Rapaport as Amazon MGM Film Co-Head
Mayo, who continues to lead Orion Pictures, will oversee about half the studio's roughly 15-title film slate alongside Rapaport.
Alana Mayo has been promoted to serve alongside Julie Rapaport as head of film, production & development at Amazon MGM Studios, the studio announced on Tuesday. Both executives report to Courtenay Valenti, head of film, streaming and theatrical, who announced the moves.
Rapaport and Mayo will each oversee roughly half of the studio's film slate, about 15 titles a year across theatrical and streaming. Valenti said the studio's overall output spans more than 30 films annually across both release channels.
Mayo will continue to lead Orion Pictures, which she has overseen since 2020. Rapaport joined Amazon MGM Studios in 2015 and was named head of movies in 2022.
No separate teams
Valenti said the studio is not creating separate pods or siloed teams, and that senior production and development staff will work with both executives. The two will partner with marketing, content strategy, finance, public relations, theatrical distribution and Prime Video programming.
Physical production, business affairs, casting, consumer insights, studio operations, music and worldwide theatrical distribution will report to Valenti.
