Amazon has given a series order to the drama series Bella from Barneys, according to Deadline. The project comes from Fake Empire founders Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Susan Rovner and Rachel Kaplan.

The series follows Bella Baldwin, an outer-borough outsider who lands a job in the stock room of the newly revived Barneys New York and becomes a personal shopper to a notorious socialite client.

Schwartz and Savage will executive produce alongside Aha Studios' Susan Rovner, Absecon Entertainment's Rachel Kaplan, Corey Salter, Colin Smeeton and Matthew Gross, who executive produce for Authentic Studios. Authentic Studios is the production arm of Barneys owner Authentic Brands Group.

Background

Barneys New York was founded in 1923 as a high-end department store in New York. After being acquired by Authentic Brands Group, it closed its brick-and-mortar stores but remained as a brand, including a partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue and its own beauty line. In 2024, a pop-up Barneys appeared in Soho.

Deadline reported in 2025 that the project was in development as part of a new first-look deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Schwartz and Savage. Sterling Point, which Schwartz and Savage partnered with creator Megan Park on, has become a hit on the streamer and was recently renewed for a second season.
