AMC's Leawood Films Taps Guy Stodel as Acquisitions Consultant

Veteran executive Guy Stodel joins AMC Theatres' new label Leawood Films, where he will identify films and bring opportunities into the venture.

Guy Stodel has been hired as an acquisitions consultant at Leawood Films, the new film label launched by AMC Theatres, according to Deadline. In the role, Stodel will identify movies and bring opportunities into Leawood.

Stodel joins Kyles Davies, who leads distribution for the label. Toby Emmerich and Ricky Strauss also serve as advisors to Leawood Films.

Stodel's acquisitions career began at Lionsgate, where he negotiated rights to more than 100 films. He later served as SVP of Acquisitions and Co-Productions at New Line/Fine Line, pre-buying, developing and executive producing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes.

At Paramount Vantage, he was EVP of Acquisitions and Production, overseeing teams in Los Angeles, London and Mexico. He went on to serve as President of Production at Vendôme Pictures, where he worked with Sian Heder to develop Coda, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. He recently completed a first-look television deal with 20th Television.
