Annie Potts Criticizes Young Sheldon Finale Cameo Scene
The Meemaw actress said the scene with Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik upset her and that she wished the show had ended with the younger Sheldon.
Annie Potts criticized the Young Sheldon finale scene that brought back Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik as Sheldon and Amy, according to comments published in a new behind-the-scenes book. Potts, who played Meemaw on the series, said the scene in which adult Sheldon appears unchanged and unrepentant upset her.
Her remarks appear in Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw's-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, a newly released book by Jessica Radloff. In it, Potts said she wished the show had ended with the younger Sheldon instead of the scene featuring Parsons and Bialik.
The finale sent Sheldon to Caltech and tied the prequel to The Big Bang Theory. Parsons and Bialik reprised their roles as Sheldon and Amy for the two-part ending, which aired about two years before the book's release.
Young Sheldon ran for seven seasons. The franchise has continued on CBS with the spin-off Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, which returned for its third season.
