Apple Corps Plans 100,000 sq. ft. Beatles Experience in Liverpool
The new site will absorb The Beatles Story in 2028 and use sets and props from Sam Mendes' four-film project, according to Variety.
Apple Corps announced a 100,000 sq. ft. Beatles experience in Liverpool that will relocate and expand The Beatles Story, according to Variety. The attraction is due to open in 2028, shortly after Sony Pictures releases The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event worldwide in April 2028.
The current The Beatles Story sits at Albert Docks; the new city-centre location will be more than four times its size. Some immersive areas will be built using sets and props from the four films. Apple Corps will take over running of the existing attraction in 2027, before the move the following year.
Apple Corps will also take over Liverpool's 400ft St Johns Beacon tower for a Yellow Submarine experience. The new Beatles Story will be only the second permanent Beatles experience the company operates, after the forthcoming 3 Savile Row attraction in London, due to open at the end of 2027.
Mendes and McCartney on the plans
Sam Mendes, who directed the four films, said filming in Liverpool highlighted the band's legacy in the city. Paul McCartney also commented on the transformation of The Beatles Story and the Beacon.
The films star Paul Mescal as McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Apple Corps was founded in 1968 to oversee the Beatles' creative and business interests.
