Five Asian Producer Groups Launch Alliance at Busan Film Market

Independent producers from five territories formed the Asian Producers Alliance at Busan's Asian Contents & Film Market, with a second seminar set for Indonesia in December.

Independent producers from five Asian territories launched the Asian Producers Alliance (APA) at the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market on Sunday, according to Variety.

The alliance comprises the Producers Guild of Korea, the Indonesian Film Producers Association (APROFI), the Philippine Independent Producers Group, the Hong Kong Movie Production Executives Association and the Taiwan Producers Association.

Squid Game producer Kim Ji-yeon, a board member of the Producers Guild of Korea, read the founding declaration. The Producers Guild of Korea and APROFI initiated the group, and its formation was approved online by all five organizations.

The announcement came at the close of the seminar "Empowering Asian Cinema: Solidarity and Creative Alliance" hosted by PGK at the ACFM Producers Hub.

Lee Dong-ha and Edwin Nazir are the alliance's inaugural co-representatives, while Han Jin and Bianca Balbuena lead its secretariat as co-secretary generals.
