Affleck Calls Justice League Reshoots Career Low

Ben Affleck said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the Justice League reshoots marked the low point of his career.

Ben Affleck said the removal of Zack Snyder from Justice League and the reshoots that followed marked the low point of his career. He made the comments during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Affleck described the overall Justice League production as "about as gross as it gets." He also said that Autumn Snyder's death by suicide should not have been used as an excuse to bring in Joss Whedon to finish the film.

Whedon was brought on to complete Justice League, a process that required two months of reshoots. Affleck said he was gratified that Snyder was eventually able to finish his own version of the film, Zack Snyder's Justice League, which was released four years later.

In a separate development, Affleck cast Ray Fisher in his new movie Animals. Fisher appeared in Justice League as Cyborg.

Background

In 2017, Justice League grossed $661 million against a $300 million budget and received mixed reviews. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, also directed by Snyder and starring Affleck, grossed $874 million.
