Bill Skarsgård says he was never contacted about a Bond villain role

The Nosferatu actor addressed fan speculation on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, saying no one from the Bond production had been in touch.

Bill Skarsgård said he was never contacted about playing a villain in the next James Bond film, addressing speculation that had linked him to the role. The actor made the comment on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, according to screenrant.com.

Skarsgård also said he feels "spent" on villain roles unless a part felt original to him. He has played Count Orlok in Nosferatu and Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the IT franchise.

The next Bond film is being directed by Denis Villeneuve for Amazon MGM Studios. Earlier in 2026, the studio said on the official 007 website that the search for the next James Bond was underway.

Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult have reportedly screen-tested for the Bond role, while Jack Lowden, Josh O'Connor and Callum Turner were reported as finalists.

Villains have been a recurring part of Bond history

In 1962, Joseph Wiseman played Dr. Julius No in Dr. No, the first Bond villain on screen. Daniel Craig's Bond era included villains Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem) and Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek).
