Blade Runner 2099 Hits Prime Video Nov. 25, Ahead of Neuromancer

Prime Video drops all eight episodes of its first Blade Runner series at once, while Apple TV rolls out Neuromancer weekly from January 22.

Blade Runner 2099 will premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 25, the streamer's first television series in the Blade Runner franchise. Prime Video will release all eight episodes at once, according to screenrant.com.

Neuromancer follows on Apple TV, debuting Friday, January 22. Unlike Prime Video's all-at-once drop, Apple TV will release one of the show's 10 episodes each week until the finale in mid-March.

The two launches put adaptations of two foundational cyberpunk novels a little over two months apart. Blade Runner traces back to Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, while Neuromancer is the first screen dramatization of William Gibson's novel.

Two different release strategies

Prime Video's binge model for Blade Runner 2099 contrasts with Apple TV's weekly rollout for Neuromancer, a 10-episode run that stretches from late January into mid-March.

Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, based on Dick's novel, was released in 1982. Neuromancer was published in 1984, 42 years before its screen adaptation. Prime Video previously released The Peripheral, an adaptation of Gibson's 2014 novel, as a miniseries in 2022.
