Buena Vista Social Club to Close on Broadway in January 2027

Producers set the final performance for January 17, 2027, after 767 performances, with a West End production planned for 2027.

The Broadway musical Buena Vista Social Club will close on January 17, 2027, its producers announced on November 6, 2026. By then the run at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre will have lasted 96 weeks and 767 performances, according to Deadline.

Producers said the production is on schedule to recoup its reported $17 million investment. A West End production in London is scheduled to begin in 2027.

Four productions of the musical are currently running: Broadway, a North American tour, Puerto Rico and Mexico City.

On the Broadway side, Natalie Venetia Belcon returns to the production on November 30, and Ashley De La Rosa returns on November 16. Gina Torres and Bernie Williams are among the current cast members.

From Havana to Broadway

The musical began previews on February 21, 2025, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre and opened on March 19, 2025. It went on to win five Tony Awards, including Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations, and its cast album won a Grammy Award.

The show is inspired by the Afro-Cuban Havana band who reunited to record the Grammy-winning 1997 album Buena Vista Social Club. For the week ending November 1, 2026, the production grossed $678,878 with attendance at 89 percent of capacity.
