Cappu Films Takes Sales Rights to African Kung-Fu Nazis Films

Hong Kong's Cappu Films will handle international sales for the cult franchise and a behind-the-scenes documentary, with the deal announced at TCCF in Taipei.

Hong Kong-based Cappu Films has acquired international sales rights to African Kung-Fu Nazis, its sequel and a documentary about the first film, according to Variety. The agreement was struck with filmmaker and producer Sebastian Stein of Humanmade Films and announced on the sidelines of the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) in Taipei.

The deal covers three titles: African Kung-Fu Nazis I, African Kung-Fu Nazis II and the feature documentary African Kung-Fu Nazis – The Doc. It applies only to rights and territories that remain open, leaving existing agreements untouched.

Cappu and the filmmakers also plan an art-led merchandise line to be produced through sister company Winners Gallery. Concepts and release plans for the line have not been finalized.

Older releases and festival run

Japanese distributor Transformer opened the original film in Japan in June 2021, and released the sequel there in July 2025, four years after the first. Busch Media Group handled the first film's German release on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD.

The sequel, a Ghana-Japan-Germany production shot mostly in Ghana, was paid for largely through crowdfunding with backing from Japanese fans of the first film. It played Sitges' Brigadoon sidebar in 2025 and screened in 2026 at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF), Grossmann and Macabro, where it received an honorable mention.

Cappu Films' slate also includes the Tony Leung Chiu-wai crime thriller Fox Hunt and Shan Jiang's Ephemera, which premiered in the 2026 Tribeca Festival U.S. Narrative Competition.
