Production has begun in Byron Bay, Australia, on the family adventure feature Chiquita, with Alyla Browne and Elsa Pataky among the ensemble cast, according to Deadline.
Kiah Roache-Turner wrote and directed the film, working from a story by Mark Morrissey. The cast also includes Michael Caton, Stephen Peacocke, Martin Sacks and Aswan Reid.
Australian distributor Umbrella will release Chiquita in the 2027 summer school holiday corridor.
The film is produced by Blake Northfield and Michelle Krumm for Bronte Studios, and by Mark Morrissey for First Option Pictures. Screen Australia and Screen NSW provided production investment, with international sales handled by Essential Film Group.
