Chris Hansen graded Robert Pattinson's portrayal of him in A24's 'Primetime' a D, saying the film misrepresents his life and that A24 never contacted him.
Robert Pattinson's turn as a fictionalized Chris Hansen in A24's Primetime has earned a harsh review from the man himself. Hansen told The Hollywood Reporter he would give Pattinson's performance a D grade after watching the film at a Thursday night screening at a Times Square AMC.
Primetime, directed by Lance Oppenheim, opened in U.S. theaters on a Friday. Set in 2006, it dramatizes the rise of To Catch a Predator into a primetime block on NBC's Dateline.
Hansen said the film portrays him as an aloof parent, a characterization he denies. He also said A24 did not reach out to him about the project, and that scenes involving Jeff Zucker and Stone Phillips never happened.
Oppenheim has said he conceived Primetime after receiving a personalized Cameo video from Hansen. Hansen, meanwhile, continues to identify and capture potential child predators on Takedown with Chris Hansen, and his TruBlu streaming network released a trailer for the documentary I'm Chris Hansen.
