Abbott: No X-Men Script Yet, but Ready for Professor X
Christopher Abbott says he has not read a script for Marvel Studios' X-Men movie but is excited to work with director Jake Schreier and the cast.
Christopher Abbott said he has not yet read any script for Marvel Studios' X-Men movie. In an interview, the actor, who is set to play Professor X, said he has not seen a script and is waiting to read material for the film.
"I love X-Men and cannot wait to take on the role," Abbott said, adding that he is excited to work with director Jake Schreier and praising the cast. He did not provide a timeline for when he expects to receive the script.
Abbott's casting was announced in August. He will play Charles Xavier, the telepathic leader of the X-Men, in the Marvel Studios production. The film is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2028 in theaters.
Marvel tapped Jake Schreier to direct X-Men in May 2025, after his previous MCU title Thunderbolts* premiered. Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are writing the script. Abbott joins a cast that includes Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Asa Germann as Angel.
