Chuck Lorre Criticizes Anna Faris in New Memoir Sitcom

In his new book, the producer writes that he was initially reluctant to cast Anna Faris in Mom and that her departure was no mystery to the show.

Chuck Lorre has criticized Anna Faris for leaving Mom ahead of its eighth season in his new memoir, Sitcom, according to comingsoon.net. The book details his time as a TV producer and addresses Faris's exit from the comedy series.

Lorre wrote that his initial reluctance to hire Faris turned out to be correct. He also stated that Faris left Mom after six years for reasons that were not mysterious to anyone on the show.

In the memoir, Lorre explained that Faris was the studio's first choice to play Christy Plunkett, the lead character in Mom. He noted that the mom in Mom would and should be Anna Faris. He also said that his fallout with Charlie Sheen, the former star of Two and a Half Men, shaped his approach to casting Faris.

Despite his criticism of Faris, Lorre expressed pride in the show he and his co-creators made, saying the last few seasons found its true voice.

Faris played Christy Plunkett in Mom from 2013 to 2020 and exited ahead of season 8 after six years. The series can currently be streamed on Prime Video.
