Clayface star jokes his character should wipe out Batman and Superman
Tom Rhys Harries said in an interview he wants his Clayface to self-actualize and then destroy every DC character, from The Penguin to Superman.
Tom Rhys Harries, who plays Matt Hagen and his Clayface alter ego in DC Studios' upcoming film, told an interview that he would like his character to self-actualize and then destroy every figure in the DC canon, naming The Penguin, Hal Jordan, Batman and Superman. The comments, reported by comingsoon.net, were made in jest.
In the same interview, Naomi Ackie, who plays Dr. Caitlyn Corr in the film, praised the DC series The Penguin. Harries' remarks about The Penguin and the other characters were made as a joke, and DC Studios has not announced any crossovers of that kind for Clayface.
Clayface is directed by James Watkins from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, James Gunn and Peter Safran serve as producers, and Warner Bros. Pictures distributes the R-rated film.
The story follows Hagen, a former Gotham street kid turned Hollywood leading man, who is disfigured by a crime boss and driven to revenge by an experimental treatment. The film was reportedly made on a $30 million production budget.
Clayface is scheduled to open on October 23, 2026.
