Coen Brothers Say They Have Discussed Making Another Film Together

At Lyon's Lumière Film Festival, Joel and Ethan Coen said a possible return would be driven by crew they miss, not by a story.

Joel and Ethan Coen said at Lyon's Lumière Film Festival that they have discussed making another film together, according to collider.com. No project has been decided, and the brothers did not announce a title, a schedule or a distributor.

Ethan Coen said the conversation was not about plot, narrative or what kind of movie to make, but about going back to work with certain crew members they have missed.

Joel Coen said the pair have thought about a couple of other stories that would take place in Minneapolis, where they come from. He added that it remains to be seen whether those ideas develop far enough to become their next project.

More than eight years have passed since their last joint film, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, an anthology of six shorts set in the American Wild West. The brothers have made 18 feature films together and won four Academy Awards; Fargo took Best Original Screenplay, while No Country for Old Men won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Rumors have circulated that the pair already have a script ready for a reunion film. Nothing said at the festival confirmed that.
